A PBS NewsHour report from Mukhmas documents the killing of a 19-year-old American-Palestinian, the torture of a Bedouin father in front of his family, and a pattern of settler attacks that human rights groups say is systematically pushing Palestinians off their land.

Settler Violence
In a separate incident that same period, settlers attacked the home of Suhaib Abualkebash, beating every member of his family, restraining him, and threatening to burn them out and take his children if they refused to leave. His family had worked the same land for three generations and kept 400 sheep. The settlers took all of them. The message, he said, was clear: leave, or face worse.
The United Nations reports that settlers have displaced more Palestinians in 2026 alone than in all of last year, with attacks averaging six per day since the war with Iran began. Since October 2023, settlers and soldiers have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in the West Bank, nearly a quarter of them children. Israel recently passed a law expanding the death penalty for terrorism classifications expected to apply almost exclusively to Palestinian prisoners, which critics say is the latest sign of a government that is enabling the violence rather than confronting it.
